KAMMPIL Leads Coconut Seedling Planting Event in Leyte for 38th National Coconut Week

The Kalipunan ng Maliliit na Magniniyog ng Pilipinas (KAMMPIL) participated in a significant coconut seedling tree planting event held in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Jaro, Leyte on August 28, 2024. The activity was part of the 38th National Coconut Week Simultaneous Coconut Planting, spearheaded by the Philippine Coconut Authority Region VIII.

The event, themed “Paghubog sa Pilipinong Magniniyog: Daan sa Pag-angat ng Ekonomiya at Maunlad na Bagong Pilipinas,” aimed to boost the country’s coconut industry and contribute to economic development. A total of 500 coconut seedlings were planted on a 3.5-hectare plot of land prepared specifically for the occasion.

Members of the Sta. Cruz Integrated Farmers Association (SCIFA) played an active role in preparing for the event, which was attended by various farmer organizations under KAMMPIL-Agricoop. These included the Tinambacan Coconut Farmers Association (TICOFA), Barangay Uguiao Small Coconut Farmers Association (BUSCOFA), Hiagsam Integrated Farmers Association (HIFA), Rubas Bangon Integrated Farmers Association (RUBIFA), and MAALSADA Farmer Irrigators Agriculture Cooperative (MAALSADA-FISCO).

The event also saw participation from the PCA Director Mr. Frank Roy M. Ribo and PCA Regional Manager Mr. Joel O. Pilapil. KAMMPIL-Agricoop Board of Directors, along with representatives from the Jaro Municipal Police Station (Jaro-MPS), Armed Forces of the Philippines 8th Infantry Battalion, Jaro, Tunga, and Alangalang Bureau of Fire Protection Office, the Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Sta. Cruz Barangay Council, among others, also attended the said event. The collaborative effort highlighted the community’s commitment to enhancing the coconut industry and supporting the national economy.
