Davao del Sur, Philippines — March 14-17, 2024 — The Kalipunan ng Maliliit na Magniniyog ng Pilipinas (KAMMPIL) recently conducted a comprehensive learning visit to Davao del Sur. The visit, led by Mr. Frank Roy M. Ribo, the head of KAMMPIL and National Project Coordinator, included key representatives from various National Farm Organizations (NFOs) across the Philippines.
During the four-day visit, the delegation toured several prominent cooperatives in the region, beginning with the Davao City Free Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (DCFFMC). The group also visited its sub-units, the Davao City Free Farmers Cooperative-Upper Tungkalan and Davao City Free Farmers Cooperative-Brgy. Tungkalan, located in Toril, Davao City. These cooperatives are actively involved in marketing and merchandising essential goods, including feeds, fishing supplies, groceries, and garments.
In addition to DCFFMC, the delegation visited the Malbog Integrated Enterprises Development Cooperative (MIEDECO) in Malbog, Paquibato District, Davao City. MIEDECO, a fully-fledged cooperative, is both operated and supervised by local farmers, showcasing the potential of community-led agricultural enterprises.
This learning visit is part of KAMMPIL’s ongoing efforts to support and strengthen the capabilities of farmers in the Philippines by promoting collaboration, sharing best practices, and fostering sustainable agricultural development.
