Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on the Localization of UN Agreements to Benefit Local Farmers

The Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on the Localization of UN Agreements to Benefit Local Farmers was successfully conducted on October 27, 2025, at the PCA Agro Hub Building in Quezon City. The activity, organized by KAMMPIL, brought together representatives from national farmers’ federations, government agencies, development partners, and local government units to explore ways of translating international UN frameworks into tangible actions that directly benefit Filipino farmers.

The consultation aimed to raise awareness on key UN agreements related to agriculture, climate, and biodiversity — including the UN Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF), UNFCCC, UNCBD, and UNCCD — and to identify policy entry points and collaboration mechanisms for integrating these into local agricultural and development plans. It also sought to facilitate dialogue among farmers, government agencies, and development partners to strengthen cooperation and accountability.

Through the active participation of approximately 50 attendees, the event generated valuable recommendations toward the formulation of a Policy and Program Brief and a Draft Localization Framework, both designed to align national commitments with local priorities. Commitments and pledges for continued collaboration were also expressed by several key agencies and organizations.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the activity, the Project Coordinator, together with the KAMMPIL Secretariat composed of the Knowledge Management Officer, Finance Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, and Assistant Finance Officer, traveled to Manila on October 25, 2025 to prepare the venue and logistical arrangements. They also served as the secretariat team throughout the consultation, ensuring efficient coordination and documentation. The team returned home on October 28, 2025, following the departure of all participants.

The activity was made possible through the support of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), which generously provided free use of the venue and accommodation at the PCA National Office.

Overall, the consultation proved to be a fruitful and meaningful engagement, reinforcing KAMMPIL’s commitment to advancing farmer inclusion in policy dialogues and ensuring that global frameworks translate into real, community-level impact.
